Ceiling Lights
When people are doing home decor, they consider all kinds of things. When we were doing kitchen remodeling, we were ready to take rather drastic actions to change the look of our kitchen. Not that there was anything wrong with it – it was a pretty solid design. It was just that, after living in the same house for 12 years, we wanted to see something new. We thought about rearranging the counter tops, installing new cabinets, putting in new wood floors, and even knocking out a wall to give us more room. One thing we never thought of until we were almost done planning was the ceiling lighting. It is a good thing that we thought about it before it was too late. Just by changing around a few ceiling lights, you can make quite an impressive difference in the look and feel of any room.
Our kitchen has recessed ceiling lights. They were all right when it was new, but over the years they have gotten kind of drab and dull. I don't think that the wiring was very solid, and some of them have burnt out. Other ones look old and dingy. We thought of a lot of different schemes to four our kitchen ceiling lights. We thought of track ceiling lighting, ceiling pendant lights, putting in lamps, and even installing fluorescent lighting. No single approach seemed to quite fulfill our needs, so we decided to combine things. By using a variety of different ceiling light fixtures, we were able to get the perfect kitchen layout.
In the center of the room, we have some recessed ceiling lights. They are designed to create a soft, diffuse glow to Illuminate the whole room. Over the counters, we wanted to have a little bit more focused lighting. We decide to install pendant lamps. They have a really funky look to them, and they make it really easy to see what I am doing when I have to cook. Finally, over the kitchen table we have the ceiling fan lights. Because there is already a ceiling fan in that part of the room, it works perfectly as a source for lighting as well. The great thing was we had to do very little other work. Just changing the lighting around gave the kitchen such a strikingly different appearance that we were able to save thousands of dollars we would have spent on kitchen remodeling costs.
