Combination Door Locks

How you protect your home is often a matter of preference. You use the same type of preferences when you choose how to protect other things in your life like storage sheds and other properties. Combination door locks can work well in some cases, but you do want to know that this is a safe thing to do where you live. If you are concerned each and every night when you go to sleep, these might not be the best idea. However, they can be great for the right people.

You probably first used combination door locks when you were in middle or high school. Not all schools have these, but some locker systems have combination door locks built right into the lockers. Some lockers have nothing, but more often than not, you can go out and get the right lock to keep your stuff safe. This is not always important in all schools, but theft can happen at any time. If you have a expensive jacket or even just your weekly lunch money in your locker, you want to know it will be there at the end of the day.

Those with lockers that do not come with combination door locks can go out and get them. They can also get padlocks with key entry, but not all schools think that is a good idea. I used these combination door locks when I was in high school for a time, and I had a huge problem remembering my combination. The lock I choose did not work well, and I would have to try many times to get it open. I often ended up leaving it unlocked as messing with the combination locks would often make me late for class. Luckily, I had no problems with theft.

You are not going to find a lot of combination door locks on front and back doors for homes. They are just not practical for the most part. However, if you have a basement door, this might be something that you would want to put on there. You may not use that area a lot, so this lock can be ideal. You don’t want to buy cheap combination door locks however, as they can be easily compromised by someone that does not know the combination. Spend some money to get ones that are more secure.

You can also use combination door locks in other areas of your life. If you use a moving trailer for anything, you may find these are a great way to keep that trailer locked while you are not near it. You don’t want to leave those open at any time. You can also use quality combination door locks when you have a shed outside. Most keep things like lawn equipment and law mowers in such sheds, along with some storage items. Protect them with a good combination lock so you can sleep easy at night.

Summary

Combination door locks are a good choice for students to use for school lockers, or to secure backpack zippers. They are not much good for home use except in a few places like locking a shed or keeping a trailer secure from theft. They are handy for keeping people out of outside buildings as well.
