You should always make arrangements for an appraisal, either prior to or during the purchase. You can’t simply take the word of someone who is selling any estate rings. Perhaps the seller isn’t aware of the fact that the estate rings aren’t valuable. Maybe it was in the family for so long and everyone just assumes that it is real, but it turns out to be completely synthetic. Buying estate jewelry can be, in a sense, like finding a buried treasure. You might end up finding something that has a great amount of monetary worth and years of history behind it. Or, you may end up finding a really old ring that isn’t worth more than one dollar.
