Free Trivia Questions
I have always been a plan of quiz shows and trivia games. I love Trivial Pursuit, Jeopardy, and anything else that tests general knowledge. For some reason, I just have a mind for it. I pick up every little tidbit and factoid that I hear and store them away in my mind for years. Trivia quiz games are what makes this information fun and useful. Instead of just taking up space in my brain, it can be used to impress my friends.
I used to have to go and buy Trivial Pursuit games all the time. I would go through all of the questions, and be out of luck until a new set came out. I didn't really realize how many free trivia questions are available. Now that I know, I am amazed. There are free trivia questions on thousands of websites. They give them out for a variety of reasons. Some of them use the questions as a way to lure you to become a member. You get free questions from them, they get your e-mail address and an opportunity to sell you all kinds of online offers. Others are simply places for hobbyists to gather. The free trivia question and answer community is gigantic. There are literally thousands upon thousands of people who post questions for each other each and every day.
Then again, if you are a little bit more enterprising, you can make your own free trivia questions. Sites like Wikipedia are filled with random and fascinating tidbits of knowledge just waiting to be recorded by an enterprising young quiz maker like yourself. Best of all, you can write them on any subject you want. Last Halloween, for example, I made a list of free horror movie trivia questions. I posted them online, and also used them at my Halloween party. We had an excellent game of scary movie trivia over drinks and delicious candy.
Free trivia questions also have more practical uses. I know many teachers who use trivia quizzes as a way to get their students interested in a topic. The kids like the chance to compete and try to outdo each other, which gets them interested in the subject. It also allows the teacher to find out which students know more about a certain subject, And which are less familiar with it. Then, at the end of the unit, the teacher can bring in more free trivia questions as a way to let the students blow off steam after some intensive studying.
