Modern Design I used to approach designed in a rather piecemeal fashion. basically, I would accumulate curio everywhere I went. I would get antiques, artifacts from various vacations, a occasional piece of modern furniture, and a whole bunch of used stuff that I would pick up at garage sales. I like the cluttered look for a while, but I didn't really know any better. You see, my parents were the same way. When I was exposed to modern design, however, I was really shocked by how big a difference it made to have your whole house set up in a uniform fashion. Modern designers have really taken thoughts about furniture, art, household layout, and architecture much further than they have ever been taken before. Modern designs are sleek, clean, spacious, and open. They see rooms as not just a place to exhibit collections of things, but rather a space to live in. Not only do they look attractive, but they are also great for putting you at ease. After all, with modern design everything is in its place, and there is no clutter or unnecessary decoration. I particularly like modern furniture design. Sometimes, there is nothing that you can do with the building that you have to work with. Modern interior design can be great, but even just working with the furniture that you use can make a huge difference. In my case, I decided to approach modern design one piece at a time And one room at a time. First, we did the living room. We bought tables, chairs, lamps, and other pieces of furniture. We didn't buy them all at once. We just kept an eye out to stores that featured modern designs, and accumulated them whenever we have a spare hundred bucks or so to throw around. Soon, however, everything was starting to look good. Of course, by the time we got to the kitchen, we were looking for something a little bit more comprehensive. Modern design is great for kitchens. The whole room can be thought of as a workshop for making and serving food, so the better designed and better placed everything is, the easier and more pleasurable it will be to work in. We did some extensive kitchen remodeling, using a granite slab for a kitchen counter top, and installing slick, low-profile cabinets. By the time we were done, it was gorgeous and practical. All in all, I could not have been more happy with the results. Summary Modern design is very much in the eyes of the beholder. Furniture sets the tone for the entire room, so be sure to select just the right pieces. Modern design tends to make each room more efficient and functional for the entire family.
