Motion Detectors
With all of the crime that is occurring nowadays, is no wonder that people are seeking ways to protect themselves and their households more effectively. Simply locking a door isn’t enough of a deterrent anymore. Criminals have managed to find dozens of other ways to enter your house without even stepping foot onto your front porch.
The most common deterrent that people invest in is an alarm system. Most alarm systems have motion detectors that are installed in various locations around your house or property. What’s great about motion detectors is that they can trigger an alarm, a video camera or they can just startle the perpetrator. Of course, if a curious neighborhood animal manages to step into the path of a motion detector and your alarm is triggered, you may have some major inconveniences if the police show up for absolutely no reason. Most people choose to have a motion detector hooked up to floodlights. The floodlights will light up a large section of the yard or property. Another great thing about motion detectors is that you can adjust the sensitivity of them. The motion detector might not have to turn floodlights on every time a stray cat wanders into your yard.
Almost everyone in my neighborhood has motion detectors of some sort. Probably only half of those households actually have an alarm system. You can get motion detectors and floodlights without having to pay monthly fees to an alarm company. Some of my neighbors have motion detectors around their porches. Others have chosen to put them on the sides of their homes. After a few burglaries in surrounding neighborhoods, anyone in my community who had not yet installed motion detectors or alarms took upon themselves to do so immediately. I couldn’t tell you if any crimes were deterred because of these precautions. Though I can tell you that no one in my neighborhood had reported any break-ins. Perhaps their need for securities was what kept the crime out. Or, perhaps the perpetrators simply didn’t venture into our area. There is no way to tell for sure.
Ask anyone who has some type of alarm system or motion detector at their residence and they’ll most likely tell you that they do have a sense of security. They’ll likely tell you that was a wise investment as well. Having a motion detector or some sort of security measurements in place may just save your family que a b of grief. It may even prevent something tragic from happening.
