Fun With Obstacle Courses

image

When there is nothing to do on a rainy day, or when it seems like the same old backyard games are not going over very well, you may want to try something new with your kids or even with your friends. Though not all games are about thinking, some are about thinking and activity, and those can be the most fun. When you are looking for something that is challenging both physically and mentally, you may want to come up with some outdoor or indoor obstacle courses. Each are a bit different, but they are a great way to eat up some time in a fun way.

What is great about obstacle courses is that they can be anything that you want, though you do have to worry about safety. However, most of the games and obstacles that you are going to come up with for our backyard and for your living room are going to be rather safe anyway. Just think about what you are going to do before and after each section of the obstacle courses to be sure that they are going to line up and run through in a safe manner. As long as it is safe, it is going to be a lot of fun.

When you make obstacle courses for your backyard, you can use what you have. Think about going over, under, and around things with both bodies and objects like balls and even hoops. Be sure you have a way to get from one to another, and be sure that the course makes some sort of sense. You can have a criteria for how to go through the course, and how to score it if you want to have a game of it. Obstacle courses can be a fun whether a game or whether or not you just have everyone run through it as everyone wants.

If you want to do obstacle courses inside, you should make it more simple. You won’t have the room that you have outside, so that means you have to use a bit more imagination. You can use whatever you have in the house, or you can drag some things in from the garage. You can make something small in the living room, or you can have something that runs through the house. Just remember that you have to put some thinking into it when inside, as the obstacles won’t be as physically challenging as the ones you have outside.
