Paper Bags
Chances are good that if you go to the grocery store you will be asked if you would prefer to have plastic or paper bags. Some places will not ask you about your preferences, and if you want to have paper you have to asked for them. However, there are many places that understand some people don’t like plastic bags, or they prefer to have paper bags for environmental reasons. Most plastics will not disintegrate when put into a landfill, and those who are environmentally conscious prefer to have paper because it can be recycled rather easily, and will not remain in a landfill for hundreds of years.
Even though paper bags tend to be flimsy, they can be used more than once. I remember that my grandmother had quite a collection of bags in her home, and they were stuck in between her two freezers in her background room. They were much sturdier than they are today, but in their basic form they have remained the same.
Some people like to use paper bags simply because the plastic ones annoy them to no end. I know that I save a lot of my plastic bag simply because they’re useful for other things. However, they are a pain when it comes to storing them. You can wad them up and stick them somewhere, but once you reach in to grab one, fifteen will follow. Paper bags tend to take up more space, but they are far easier to deal with. You can stack them up and slide them into a small space to keep them for later use.
If you’re into environmental causes, you can go a step beyond paper bags. Some people like to have five or six fabric bags that they take with them to the grocery store. Their groceries can then be brought home in these bags instead of choosing plastic or paper bags. These bags can be used over, and over again, and can be washed when they become dirty. It is a little more work to store, care for, and use these type of fabric bags, but if you are concerned about the environment it is definitely a way you can cut down on both plastic and paper bags being wasted. No matter what your preference, I would assume that all types of bags will exist to the future. You just have to decide what is best for you at your world.

Summary
Paper bags are a choice when you are shopping at the grocery store. You can also choose plastic, but these are a pain to deal with once you get them home. Paper can be stacked up for later. If you are environmentally aware, carry a cloth bag for store purchases so less trees need to be cut down.
