Rain Boots
When it came time to start to school, I had no idea I would have to walk my daughter back and forth each day. I’m not concerned with the walking, as it is rather enjoyable. However, I know that because I live in the northern part of the United States, the weather is soon going to be less than agreeable. This means I have to find a way to protect my daughter’s feet while we walk to school, and I am going to have to get something for myself as well. It’s going to be cold, and it’s going to be wet, so I am thinking that a quality pair of rain boots is probably what we both need.
I remember wearing rain boots when I was a kid. I had to walk about a quarter of a mile to the bus each day, and the road was a dirt road. This meant that any moisture would have ruined my sneakers rather quickly. I was not keen on wearing my rain boots at first, but after a while, I got used to them. They were a bit clunky, and hard to manage at first, but I liked that my regular shoes would stay clean and new looking for most of the school year.
What is great about the rain boots of today is that they come in a lot of great colors and designs. The ones that were around when I was a child were okay, but the newer ones they have today are a lot of fun. They come in all sizes and all types of thicknesses. You may not need something that will be warm in the snow, but most need something to keep the rain out when walking anywhere outside. Gardeners even get them to wear while gardening after a big rain.
When shopping for rain boots, you have to think about what type you want. There are some that go over existing shoes, or the kind that is worn in lieu of shoes. Either works, but the type that goes over shoes can be a bit much for some children to handle. They tend to keep the shoe inside when removed, and that can be rather frustrating. Younger children often use the type that are worn in place of shoes much more easily, and then they just carry their shoes with them in their school bag or backpack.
