Cleaning Shower Tiles

image

If you are like most people, you may not clean as much as you would like. You may focus your limited time on the things that are the most prone to causes sickness like the toilet and the sinks, and that might mean other things go untouched for perhaps a little longer than you would like. There are some things that can go without a cleaning for a while and it won’t make much difference. Shower tiles are not one of these things. When you get behind with this chore, they can be very hard to clean.

You have two basic choices when you are going to clean shower tiles that have been neglected. You can use a very strong cleaner, or you can use something a bit safer. There are downfalls and benefits to both. The harsh cleaner leaves toxic fumes in the air, and are not the best choice when you have pets and children in the home. The room must also be well ventilated. When using something like Comet, you are a bit safer, but you will have to put more elbow grease into cleaning your shower tiles. Both work well, but it is a personal decision.

There are some products on the market that are supposed to take some of the work out of keeping your shower tiles cleaner and in need of scrubbing less often. There are some squeegee like products that can be used after each shower to wipe away some of the water. This can stop some of the mildew and buildup on your shower tiles, but they are far from perfect. You may have seen an advertisement for the shower cleaner that works automatically at a specific time each day. By some accounts, these can be of a great help as well.

When your shower tiles have simply gone too long between cleanings, you do have to think about airborne germs from mold and mildew. If that is a concern, you should think about something that contains strong chemicals that will neutralize those two things. You may find that you have to use something like that, clean everything up, and then use a toothbrush to get in between the shower tiles to be sure all is as clean and healthy as it should be. We all let things go on occasion, but that is human nature. What is important is to know how to clean up the mess when we finally find the time to attend to it.
